Northern Lights, Privately

Private Northern Lights Holidays.

Finnish Lapland sits beneath the auroral oval, one of the most dependable places on Earth to see the northern lights. Divánta builds the whole night around your party: a villa under dark skies, a chauffeured drive to clear weather and a team that watches the forecast so you do not have to.

When the Lights Appear

The aurora season in Finnish Lapland runs from late August to early April. The lights favour dark, clear skies away from town, usually between nine in the evening and one at night, though strong displays can begin earlier.

No one can promise the aurora: it is weather, and honesty matters to us more than a brochure line. What the house can promise is the best possible chance, night after night, and an evening worth remembering even when the sky stays quiet.

A Season of Dark Skies

September & October

Autumn Lights

The first strong auroras arrive while lakes are still open, so the sky often shows twice: above you and on the water.

November & December

The Long Dark

Polar night brings the most hours of darkness. The lights can appear early in the evening, well before bedtime.

January to March

The High Season

Cold, clear and quiet. Statistically the most dependable skies of the winter, with deep snow for the days.

April

The Last Lights

Bright days and one more chance at night. A gentler season for families and first visits to the North.

One Night, as the House Arranges It

Every aurora night is private to your party: your own car, your own guide and a plan that bends with the sky.

1

Early evening

Your team reads the forecast: solar activity, cloud maps and the quiet places where the sky opens.

2

Dinner at the villa

Your chef serves at home. If the sky looks promising, dessert can wait for the return.

3

The drive out

A warm Mercedes, your chauffeur and a guide who knows the dark roads. You step out only where it counts.

4

Under the lights

Warm drinks, lap blankets and time. Your guide photographs you beneath the sky, so you can simply watch.

5

The warm return

Back to a villa where the sauna is ready and the fire is lit. Kaikki järjestyy: it will all be arranged.

A Villa Under the Oval

Many of our villas sit far from town lights, so the hunt often begins at your own window. When the sky opens, you need only step onto the terrace.

For the nights you wish to go further, your chauffeur and guide are on call, and your chef keeps the evening warm until you return.
